South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust’s elderly care is ‘leading the way’
Changes made to emergency healthcare for older people by South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust have been praised in a report by the national charity the King’s Fund, which exists to enable improvements to healthcare to be made in England.
The trust’s new care model - which has overseen changes including the introduction of new community teams who visit patients in their homes and old age specialists in its hospitals - was recognised by the charity as a leading example of how to make healthcare systems fit for an ageing population. The authors of the report visited Warwick Hospital earlier this month to sees the changes first-hand and congratulate the staff involved.
