St George will ride in to Rugby town centre on a motorised horse on Saturday April 19 as part of the town’s annual celebrations of our patron saint.

The free family event, organised by Rugby First, takes place on High Street and Sheep Street, between 11am and 3pm, and is expected to attract large crowds.

The gallant dragon-slaying saint will be just one of the attractions at this year’s event, which also includes an art and craft fair, birds of prey, motorcycles, woodcraft demonstrations, a cadet band, children’s entertainment, food, music from Rugby FM, and lots more.

Little knights and princesses will have plenty to entertain them also with face painting, Punch and Judy, ‘Wally the Clown’, balloon modelling and tea-cup ride.

There will also be a bouncy castle, magic show and an Easter Egg Hunt, supported by ASDA – how magical is that? Any children that wear fancy dress on the day will receive a treat from the Rugby First Rangers.

When you are ready to feast why not take advantage of the delicious, succulent and mouth-watering hog roast, or sweeter treats in the form of ice cream, donuts, candy-floss and Rosie’s Cakes. Of course you could just enjoy a delicious banquet or drink provided by one of the town centre’s cafes, restaurants and pubs.

Rugby First managing director Aftab Gaffar said: “The event continues to grow in size and popularity and is now well established in the Rugby events calendar. It provides a great backdrop to showcase the town and draws people from the local area as well as further afield providing a welcome boost to the local economy and a fun day out. A special thanks to all those businesses who will be dressing their shops as part of the keenly contested window dressing competition judged by the Mayor of Rugby.”
