Stockton pupil’s horticultural skills impress RHS team

Stockton Primary School pupil Jow Bousfield has been hailed as the “backbone of rural England” after being selected as the Royal Horticultural Society’s Young Gardener of the Year.

The school’s headteacher Lucie Buran said of the 11-year-old: “Joe is a shining example of how to get young people interested in gardening. He is the backbone of rural England in that he embodies the determination to make sure that rural traditions and skills remain steadfast in future years.”
