Part-night streetlighting operation is to continue in Warwickshire after a call for a change in policy was defeated.

The notice of motion moved by the county council’s Labour Group called for Cabinet to reverse the decision on streetlights being switched off, and to switch them back on immediately.

It was defeated at Tuesday’s meeting of full council.

A full review into part night operation is to be carried out in October when the county council will look at evidence from the first year of implementation.

Streetlights are switched off at midnight from Sunday to Thursday until 5.30am.

On Saturday and Sunday mornings, the switch off reverts to between 1am and 6.30am.
