Students put on glitz
Rugby College students raised nearly £600 for two charities at their Walk and Paws catwalk show.
The event, which the students also organised, showcased the Theatrical Hair and Make-up, Hairdressing and Performing Arts courses at the college.
The money raised was split between two local charities - Tiny Tim’s Children’s Centre and Pawprints Dog Rescue - and representatives from the charities visited the college to thank the students and receive their cheques.
Sue Hughes and Trisha Shaw from Pawprints Dog Rescue took Archie the greyhound and Inca the lurcher along to meet the students.
Sue said, “It’s amazing what the students have done - the show was outstanding and the money raised will be put to good use, such as paying for vet’s bills. All the staff are volunteers so everything raised goes to the rescued dogs.”
Sarah Hemmings, centre manager from Tiny Tim’s Children’s Centre, said: “We provide free physiotherapy for children with disabilities at our centre in Coventry. We’re always grateful for every penny so a big thank you to the students for their hard work.”
