Students show their colours in world record breaking attempt to mark Olympic Games

MORE than 800 pupils and staff at Princethorpe College have run rings around a world record breaking attempt.

The college launched its countdown to the Olympic Games on Friday by forming the five interlocking rings which represent the event.

Each college house’s colour was represented by the symbol, with sixth formers making up the fifth yellow ring.

Organiser and house co-ordinator Rosie Hase said: “We had to postpone the attempt before half term because of the snow so we were especially pleased that everything ran so smoothly.

“We weren’t able to have a representative from Guinness to verify the record but in keeping with the spirit of what the Olympic Rings represent the community showed great unity and collaboration.

“We also had a lot of fun.”

Students have been raising money for Cancer Research UK through Olympic-themed events.
