Teenager charged over serious assault

POLICE investigating the serious injury of a man have charged a 18-year old man with causing grievous bodily harm and being concerned with the supply of drugs.

Jack Bryant, 18, of Radford Semele, who was arrested on Sunday, has been remanded in police custody, and is due to appear before Nuneaton Magistrates on today (Tuesday).

Two other males, arrested on Sunday, both also aged 18 years, remain in police custody following an application for extension of detention. They are being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.

Two 16-year-old males, also arrested on Sunday, have been released on police bail, pending further enquiries. A sixth male, aged 18 years, also arrested on Sunday, has been released with out further action.

Six other males, aged between 21 years and 40 years, who were arrested on Saturday 20 August, on suspicion of attempted murder, were all released on police bail, pending further police enquiries.

The injured man, aged 42 years, remains in a critical condition in the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire where he is being treated for serious head injuries. He was found unconscious inside a house in Ascote Way, Southam, at shortly after midnight (in the early hours of) Saturday.

Police continue to appeal for anyone with any information about the assault to come forward. They are asked to contact the Local Investigation Team at Leamington Police Station on 01926 451111 where Detective Chief Inspector Alex Franklin-Smith is leading the investigation.
