The future of the Racecourse?
The new plans were submitted to Warwick District Council last month, and Jockey Club Racecourse is confident the £10 million hotel scheme will provide a big boost for the town.
On Tuesday racecourse representatives met Warwick Town Council to discuss the new plans.

Hide AdTown clerk Derek Maudlin said: “They have assured us that this revised scheme meets the objections raised by English Heritage before.
“Our members were told that the district council considers that there is no impediment to a hotel being built on St Mary’s Lands.”
Bill Hunt, assistant chief executive of the council said: “There is a separate issue regarding whether there are any restrictions relating to the use of some or all of the land on which the proposed development would stand, which aside from any impact on the potential development affects the council as the landowner of some of the site. This is also under consideration.”
However residents are again voicing their objections to the new hotel with seven already submitted to planning officer Martin Haslett.

Gwenda Mills of Stand St said: “Warwick is a unique and historic location that’s character is complemented by numerous independent hotels, B&Bs, cafes, and unique shops. I do not want Warwick to become a bland copy of any other town around the UK and this development is another step towards this.”
There has not yet been a date set for the application to go to committee.
