DO YOU think you’ve got what it takes to be crowned the best home cook in the area?

Talented chefs now have the chance to show off their culinary skills thanks to Sarah and Kieran Mcloughney, owners of the newly named Moorings Canal side Bar and Restaurant in Crick. The husband and wife team who run the restaurant, formerly called Edwards, launched the Moorings Kitchen Meister competition this week during which cooks will compete to win the title.

Sarah said: “With so much interest in TV programmes such as MasterChef we decided to create an opportunity for people who want to develop their home cooking artistry skills within professional restaurant surroundings.”

The contest will run over five Mondays with the first round taking place on the evening of April 25 from 6pm,

Sarah added: “The first round will be a ‘bring in your own cold course’ then the best eight contestants will go into a quarter final where head to head combat will take place on a weekly basis in the Moorings kitchen until the winner is crowned.”

The winner will, for one night, win the kitchen and all the ingredients to cook their two course meal for up to 20 family and friends, accompanied by wine. To enter visit or call (01788) 822517.

The entry deadline is 5pm on April 21.
