Three car fires in and around Rugby in 24 hours

Two cars have caught fire in separate incidents in and around Rugby this morning (Tuesday).

Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service emergency control room received three 999 calls at 7.37am alerting them to a vehicle fire in Wolvey. The car was on Wolds Lane. One appliance was sent from Nuneaton. Two firefighters in breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Crews were on the scene for one hour.

At 6.35am, crews were called to a car on fire on the driveway of a property in Wigston Road, Hillmorton. Two engines from Rugby were sent. Fire crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and then made the car safe. Warwickshire Police also attended the scene.

Firefighters also dealt with a car fire in a wooded area at Mellish Road, Rugby yesterday morning (Monday). The car was well alight when the crews arrived at 7.25am. Police were called as fire was believed to be suspicious.
