Rugby fans took on the challenge of finding a crate of England Rugby World Cup 2015 shirts hidden in a secret location in the town.

Three brand new Rugby World Cup shirts were hidden in the town and to unlock the location, fans had to follow Canterbury’s Twitter account - @CanterburyNZ - and complete a specially designed challenge to test the perseverance and skill of the most devoted England supporters.

Once fans had discovered the co-ordinates, they faced a race to reach the hidden crate first, and become one of the very first to get their hands on the new England shirt for the Rugby World Cup.

The shirts were hidden at the famous Close at Rugby School.

First to find the crate was Alexandra Tailby, 24, from Harborough Magna.

Alexandra said: “I’m a huge rugby fan and as soon as I heard about the Canterbury promo I knew there could only be one place that it would be...Rugby School!”

Next came Dominic Hammond, 25, from Rugby, who currently plays for the Old Laurentian’s Rugby Club.

Dominic said: “I play rugby for local club the OLs, and am a massive fan. I’ve got tickets for Australia v Wales and for

the quarter finals I’m so excited.

“The image of The Close at Rugby School is so iconic, as soon I saw the picture I ran down here!”

Just pipping his neighbour to the post was Toby Corrigan, 13, from Rugby.

Toby said: “It was absolutely brilliant that found one of the shirts. Once I knew it was where the sport began it could only have been on The Close at Rugby School.”

Fans who arrived after the shirts had been snapped up were rewarded for their efforts with a discount voucher for use at the Canterbury online store.
