Three young oboe players from Rugby have played their way to distinction.

The adjudicator of the recent Leamington Competitive Festival commended all of them for their quality of tone, control and musicianship, and awarded all three of them distinction scores, a score he gave out very sparingly over the two days of woodwind classes.

He said that the region was very fortunate to have three such talented young oboists, and was surprised to discover they all came from the same town.

Bridget Tiller, who goes to Rugby High School, played in the under-15 category, Daniel Heathcote of Lawrence Sheriff in the under-13 and ten-year-old Kaitlin Mackintosh, who attends Bilton Grange was in the under-11. The three have different teachers.
