LAWRENCE Sheriff Street in Rugby has been closed following the collapse of a sewer.

The road was closed in both directions unexpectedly yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) after a sewer collapse.

It is not yet clear how long it will be closed for while emergency repairs are carried out.

Traffic is being diverted through the town and onto the gyratory system.

The closure is causing congestion on all major routes around the town.

The B4453 Straight Mile Stretton-on-Dunsmore is also closed both ways between A45 and A423 due to roadworks.
