Two suspects still on the run following Tarratt jewellery robbery in Rugby

POLICE in Rugby are still hunting for two suspected robbers following a dramatic chase through town yesterday (Monday).

A gang of men wearing balaclavas used a sledge hammer to smash their way into Tarratts jewellers - previously Thomas Cleaver - in Regent Street, Rugby at around 11.35am yesterday.

The men drove off in a black BMW, however minutes later they got into an Audi parked nearby in Holbrook Avenue.

The Audi was involved in a collision in Hollowell Way, Brownsover at which point the three men ran from the vehicle.

Following a search of the area, assisted by the force helicopter, one man was arrested and is currently awaiting questioning by officers.

A quantity of jewellery was also recovered.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said this morning (Tuesday) that officers had still not found the other two suspects.

One is described as a white male who is well built and bald headed.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the robbery at the jewellers, the changing of the vehicles in Holbrook Ave or who saw someone run from the vehicle in Hollowell Way, Brownsover to please contact Local Investigation officers on 01926 415000 quoting incident 122 of 3 September.
