Unique mural unearthed - and now restored
As part of the restoration of Leamington’s listed Art Deco station, a large mural advertising Captain Morgan Rum has now been restored at the far end of the Booking Hall.
The mural is probably unique and thought to date from 1944-1950 when Seagram launched the brand. It may have been painted by local signwriter Brian Hammond of New Street and has now been restored by another local signwriter,Phil Taylor (pi ctured above). Chiltern Railways found the mural when it restored the booking hall and underground passage early in 2008. The restoration was paid for and organised by The Friends of Leamington Station.
