Warwickshire Police have released CCTV images of two men they wish to speak to in connection with an unprovoked assault in Rugby.

The incident happened on Sunday March 1 in Church Walk at about 1.15am.

The victims, a 22-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, were walking back from the town centre when they were approached by two men. They asked the couple for a cigarette before physically assaulting them. Both victims sustained minor injuries during the incident.

The offenders then made off in the direction of McDonald’s on Market Place. They are both white, around 18 to 20 years old and of slim builds. They were both wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and dark coloured hooded tops with the hoods up. One had distinctive white writing on the upper left arm reading ‘EA7’.

Police are eager to trace the men in the images in connection with the incident and ask anyone who recognises them or has information to call 101, quoting incident 35 of Sunday March 1, asking to speak to the investigating officer, PC 1563 Craig Stead at Rugby Police Station.
