UPDATE: Police confirm today, Thursday, outcome of scrapyard investigation
Officers investigating a suspicious item found at a scrap yard off Newbold Road, Rugby have confimed today, Thgursday, that the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
The item was uncovered in the boot of a car yesterday, Wednesday, at around 10am and explosives experts attended the site as a precautionary measure.
An assessment deemed the item was not dangerous and following further enquiries, officers are satisfied there was no intention to cause harm, damage or disruption.
People were evacuated from businesses in the area but no homes were affected.
