Fun and games drew crowds to Newbold on Saturday to raise money for the village church.
Entertainers, face-painters and various stalls kept the visitors occupied through the variable weather, with St Botolph’s church benefitting to the tune of £1,700. The event’s theme was based on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Janet Haynes, who helped organise the event, said: “It was a great success. The church is desperate for funds, with a large parish share to pay and massive restoration work going on – they keep finding more that needs doing. Some people were kept away by the weather forecast, and we were expecting rain and strong winds, but we got through it all very well.”
