Leicester Tigers players greeted excited fans at the opening of Next in Rugby today (Thursday).
Some supporters had queued outside the new Elliott’s Field store on Leicester Road for more than two hours.
Tigers player Owen Williams said it was a pleasure to be opening the store.
“We are really pleased to be invited to the launch of the new Next store,” he said.
“It’s great to be here in Rugby, the birthplace of the game, and meet all the people that have been waiting to see what the new shop is like.”
Rugby resident Becca Wall was one of the first five people to enter the store with her children Molly, seven, and Freddie, five.
She said: “We’ve really missed having Next in the town so it’s great to see it up and running again.
“We are going on holiday tomorrow and wanted to pop down and get a few last minute bits to take with us.”
