Villagers in Napton and Stockton have a new curate serviving their parishes.

Gillian Roberts was ordained on Sunday at Coventry Cathedral. She will be serving as curate in the Bridges Group of parishes, which comprises Napton, Stockton and Lower Shuckburgh with Priors Marston, Priors Hardwick and Wormleighton.

Gillian has been married to Dave for 37 years, has two grown-up children and is about to become a grandmother. Before training, she worked as an administrator in the NHS, lived in the USA for three years and most recently was senior administrator at the Warwickshire Pupil Referral Unit. Gillian is a governor at Stockton Primary School and has been involved with the village Scout group as a leader for many years.

She said she is now looking forward to helping more people “to experience the love of Jesus”.

Gillian is entitled to lead worship and carry out pastoral and teaching work, but will not be able to lead services of Holy Communion until she becomes a priest.
