Volunteers make village safer after flooding causes chaos around Rugby

Roads in and around Rugby flooded this morning (Wednesday) following heavy rainfall.

A number of schools have been closed due to problems and motorists have had severe delays in journeys.

Tim Moore (pictured), clerk to Withybrook Parish Council, said: “I can’t believe motorists will attempt to drive through the floods, it’s so dangerous.

“I’ve put bollards around the worst areas to stop people even attempting it.”

He said waters rose quickly in the village.

“We’re worried about houses being flooded,” added Mr Moore.

“I just hope people take greater care in conditions like this.”
