Vomiting bug causes ward closure at Warwick Hospital

VISITING has been restricted at one ward in Warwick Hospital because of a suspected outbreak of ‘winter vomiting bug’ norovirus.

Friends and relatives will only be able to visit patients in Squire Ward at the Lakin Road hospital in exceptional circumstances.

Norovirus is a seasonal viral infection which causes vomiting and diarrhoea. It is very infectious and often occurs in outbreaks in communities such as schools, institutions and families. It can be brought into hospitals and cause outbreaks on wards.

Anyone suffering from symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting should stay at home, drink plenty of fluids.

The arrangements will remain in place until further notice. An update will be posted on the hospital’s website tomorrow (Thursday February 23) at 1pm.
