Vomiting bug closes eight wards to visitors at Warwick Hospital

EIGHT wards at Warwick Hospital are closed to visitors due to another outbreak of the contagious illness, norovirus.

The Victoria, Malins, Castle, Nicholas, Charlecote, Guy, Mary and Squire wards are not permitting any visitors, except for in circumstances where the ward manager allows it on the compassionate grounds that the patient is seriously ill. Any visitors who think they fall into this category should call the ward manager to discuss this.

Visits to other wards are restricted to 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm.

The maternity department, special care baby unit, MacGregor ward and the intensive therapy unit are not affected by these restrictions.

Those visiting affected areas must be immediate family members of the patient and over the age of 16. hands must be washed using soap and water before and after visiting the wards.

Anyone who has had or been in contact with someone who has had diarrhoea and/or vomiting within the last 48 hours should not visit the hospital.
