A kind-hearted volunteer and trustee for Rugby Pawprints has reached the finals of the Britain Has Spirit awards.
Trisha Shaw, 47, was nominated by a member of the public for her commitment to helping the charity save abandoned dogs from death row.
Trisha lives in Warwick and also devotes a great deal of her spare time to searching for missing dogs in the local area on behalf of doglost.co.uk
If she wins the award, Pawprints will receive a £25,000 prize - and people in Rugby can help make it happen by voting online.
She said: “It was initially quite a shock - it just came completely out of the blue.”
She added: “I started volunteering at Rugby Pawprints 18 months ago as a voluntary dog walker and from that point on they just couldn’t get rid of me.”
The award winners will be revealed at a ceremony in London next weekend.
