ASHLAWN School’s electric car racing team has been given a huge boost through the support of local businesses.

Dean Batty, whose son Robert is a member of the Car Design Club, secured the help of some local firms to support the team in the upcoming season.

Head of physics Rob Southern and his team of young engineers gratefully received a new helmet and gloves from Nightingales.

They were also thrilled to receive a radio and communications kit, donated by town company Interide, which will allow the team and driver to talk with each other during a race.

A spokesman from Ashlawn School said: “With just the bodywork to go, the team are working flat out at their after-school club to be ready for next season. We would like to thank Mr Batty for his support, which is invaluable.”
