Officers are warning drivers about a recent rise in the theft of wheel trims in Rugby.

Warwickshire County Council’s Community Safety Project Officers and Warwickshire Police in Rugby have reported a number of incidents in recent weeks where the wheel trims have been stolen from vehicles in the borough.

No specific make or model of car has been targeted.

Project Officer Martyn Stephens said: “If you’re concerned about this issue I would advise you to remove the wheel trims from your vehicle and mark them on the back with a permanent marker pen. I suggest the vehicle registration number and your post code. The wheel trims can be replaced and it’s a good idea to fix them with cable ties as an added security measure.”

If you see anything suspicious and believe a crime is taking place you can ring 999, or if you have information on who is committing the crime ring 101.
