Warning over rogue traders knocking on doors in Rugby

Rogue traders are operating door to door in the Rugby area offering roofing and loft insulation work, warns Warwickshire Trading Standards.

The approach is usually to falsely claim that a few tiles are loose on a householders's roof before looking for more work they claim is needed.

Some residents have paid hundreds of pounds to have a few roof tiles replaced unnecessarily, and thousands more to replace perfectly adequate loft insulation.

The rogues often ask for cash up front for materials, but carry out little if any work (and none of value) before disappearing. They may be falsely claiming to represent nationally recognised building companies.

Residents are advised to never buy goods or services from doorstep traders.
