Warwick midwife reunited with midwife who delivered her

When Shannon Cassidy was born at the hospital in June 1994, she was delivered by Rosie Harris, who was also a newly-qualified midwife at the time.

Twenty-one years later Rosie continues to work at the hospital in Lakin Road, now as an audit midwife - and alongside Shannon, who is thrilled to be reunited with her.

Shannon said: “It really is amazing. Even when I was young, my mum would tell me how great Rosie was - that’s why she gave me Rose as a middle name.

“When I started training, I thought about Rosie, but I never expected to be working with her. She really has been an inspiration for me pursuing a career in midwifery.”

Rosie said: “When Shannon first started, someone in the team asked if I wanted to meet her again. I thought what do they mean ‘again’, I’ve not been introduced yet?

“Then when I saw Shannon and I realised what they had meant, I was delighted that she had followed a similar career path to myself and become a midwife.”

The two women have strengthened their connection further as during Shannon’s training, she helped with the birth of Rosie’s grandchild.
