Warwick UN Assocation debate touched on global issues

There was standing room only on Saturday at the Warwick UN Association’s two-hour debate with the people representing the major political parties on a local level.

In the hot seats were current Warwick and Leamington MP Chris White with Janet Alty (Green party), Alan Beddow (Lib Dem), Lynnette Kelly (Labour) and Alastair MacBrayne (UKIP).

The questions and debate ranged from the continued occupation of Palestinian territory in the West Bank and Gaza, the spread of Islamist influence and radicalisation of young British Muslims.

The future of Afghanistan and the problem of climate change were also discussed.
