Warwick woman Mel among walkers who want to raise £1,000 for British Skin Foundation

First-time trekkers took on the Brecon Beacons and raised £700 for the British Skin Foundation.

Team LLumar was made up of a five-strong team, including 35-year-old Warwick woman, Mel Knight.

The team, who work at Cosham, near Portsmouth, were inspired to raise funds after working with the charity in a professional capacity on LLumar AU 85, which is a protective film for windows that protects from dangerous UV rays.

Mel said: “We are very grateful to the British Skin Foundation for having recognised the potential of LLumar AU 85 in terms of protecting people’s skin from the sun’s harmful rays.

“This is why we wanted to give them something back and decided it would be a good idea to trek the Brecon Beacons.”

Mel said the team had pledge to raise £1,000.

She added: “We hope to be able to raise more.

“Some of us will also participate in local sports events as part of our fundraising exercise. Overall, we are very excited to raise funds for the British Skin Foundation and to raise awareness about the sun’s harmful rays.
