Warwickshire charity set to rock Snowdon

Members of a local charity are preparing to play the highest gig in the country by climbing and performing a concert on top of a mountain.

The Warwickshire Association of Youth Club (WAYC) is a charity that has supported vulnerable young people in Warwickshire and Coventry for more than 60 years.

WAYC supports more than 100 youth clubs and helps to deliver a range of specialist projects that meet the needs of young people who are disadvantaged.

The projects create opportunities for young people to help them gain positive support with issues such as unemployment, mental health, social exclusion and disability.

Last year members of the charity took part in a Santa dash up Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, to raise money.

The brave Santas managed to raise more than £800.

This year the charity is looking to try something different for its festive fundraiser and has decided to go one step further than last year’s mountain climb.

David Skoppek of WAYC, said: “On December 14 a musical band of Santas will perform a selection of Christmas classics on the summit of Mount Snowdon. We will set off first thing in the morning and aim to reach Snowdonia by 9.30am. By midday we hope to have reached the summit and will there perform the highest gig in the country!”
