Warwickshire County Council will welcome public health back into local government after 39 years in the NHS.
The responsibility for public health will transfer to local authorities on Monday.
The county council will then be responsible for a wide range of services.
Strategic director for communities, Monica Fogarty, said: “This is a very exciting time for both local government and public health. Councils are uniquely placed to understand the needs of local populations, the communities in which they live and work and the action necessary to improve the wider determinants of health and wellbeing.”
