Warwickshire Police caught in spelling blunder

Officers last week proudly unveiled the new mobile station unit which will travel to the county’s villages and help engage with communities over policing issues.

But an error has since been spotted - as artwork on a map displayed on the van misspells both Wellesbourne and Shipston-on-Stour.

Wrongly written as “Wellsbourne”, and “Shipstone-on-Stour”, the mistakes were pointed out by officers in Rugby as pictures of the Peugeot Boxer were shared on social media.

The error was left open to online jokes between neighbouring teams, but the force has yet to comment on when the mistake will be corrected, or how much the change could cost.

A spokesperson said: “Warwickshire Police is aware of two spelling errors on the side of a mobile police station van in North Warwickshire.

“We are currently working to resolve this mistake as quickly and cost effectively as possible.”

The new vehicle is fitted with WiFi and a flat-screen television and are now in use across the county.

Proudly unveiling the van, members of the community team wrote: “MeetTheFleet VO16CJX On board WiFi, 240v On Board Supply, Flat Screen TV, Coming to a village near you soon.”
