Warwickshire’s new police commissioner invites public to first meeting

Ron Ball, who took up the post following the recent election, will speak openly to Chief Constable Andy Parker, who will present to him a report on the current performance of the force, at Shire Hall in Warwick on Monday.

There will also be an update on the ongoing work to jointly deliver policing services across Warwickshire and West Mercia, as well as a report on the constabularies’s current financial performance.

Mr Ball, who will outline any decisions he has made since coming into office at the meeting, said: “This is the first of what I plan will become regular meetings with the Chief Constable, which are open to the public to attend.

“It is important that the people in Warwickshire understand how their police force works and how decisions are taken to ensure it operates to deliver maximum protection within its budget.

“We are still looking at ways to ensure the public are kept informed about the work and the decisions of the Police and Crime Commissioner, and how the office of the PCC works with the Chief Constable and the force.

“Since coming into office, I have spent a lot of time getting to know members of Warwickshire Police and also meeting with groups and individuals out and about in Warwickshire.

“I hope that as many people as possible will be able to attend the meeting in order to join the Chief Constable and myself at the beginning of a rewarding and successful working partnership.”

The meeting, which will take place in committee room 2, starts at 9.30am.
