Origami, manga drawing and brush painting were just some of the activities families enjoyed at this year’s Big Draw.

Rugby Art Gallery and Museum hosted the event and the theme followed the current exhibition, ‘It’s a Wrap: Japanese furoshiki past and present’.

Special guest Akemi Solloway taught the 274 visitors about authentic Japanese culture and artistic techniques, including sho-do brush writing and furoshiki.

Artists were on hand to give tips and advice to youngsters throughout the event last Saturday.

Jessica Hartshorn, learning and outreach officer for the gallery, said: “The animation and manga drawing workshops were particularly popular with talented teenagers and the Japanese brush painting workshop resulted in a beautiful display.”
