Rugby’s countdown to Christmas has officially started as thousands turned out to see the festive lights switched on.
Crowds descended on the town centre on Sunday to enjoy the packed programme of entertainment with headliners Toploader.
Visitors enjoyed funfair, children’s activities, music, games, Father Christmas, market and fireworks.
Joanne Houghton Diack was at the switch on with her family, including her mother Joan, 80, and six-month-old granddaughter Eliza.
She said: “We went to the switch-on and it was really impressive.
“It really got us all in the festive mood. There was something for everyone and despite the weather not being the best, we had lots of fun.”
Live acts included White Men Can’t Funk, Me and My Shadow, Hill Street Studio Singers, Rugby Cadet Corps of Drums, the Salvation Army band with St Andrew’s Church Choir, Hayley’s Impact Dance and Choir Idol finals.
The grand finale consisted of a stunning fireworks display.
