Severn Trent said an area of the town reported 'water supply interruptions' and drops in pressure beginning at around 10am on January 24.

The lack of water had a knock-on effect for several town centre businesses which rely on water, such as hairdressers, pubs and cafes.

St Cross Hospital was within the area affected by the water issues.

It is understood the problems stemmed from a burst water main in Barby Road.

The supply was restored during the afternoon with Severn Trent saying they were working to repair the damaged water main.

A spokesman for University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust said: “It was a case of business as usual at St Cross Hospital in Rugby following the burst water pipe.

“Although water pressure dipped for a brief period of time, patient care was not affected and appointments have taken place as normal.”
