Rugby MP Mark Pawsey has chosen the winner of his Christmas card competition.

Schoolchildren from across the borough submitted their entries and this year, Mr Pawsey chose a design by 10-year-old Abigail Mair, of Cawston Grange Primary School, which celebrated the Rugby World Cup, one of the defining events of 2015.

Abigail’s prize is a visit to Westminster, where she and her family will be treated to a tour of the Houses of Parliament and ‘Tea on the Terrace’. A card featuring Abigail’s design on the front and the runners up inside has been printed and sent out to local businesses, charities and community groups across Rugby and Bulkington.

The two runners-up were Bilton Junior School pupil Madison Stacey, aged 10, and and 8-year-old Elle Johnson, who attends Long Lawford Primary School.

Mr Pawsey said: “This is the sixth year I have run my Christmas card competition and it is always very hard to choose a winner.

“The entry by Abigail, featuring Father Christmas as an England Rugby player I thought was a very clever design and celebrates both Christmas and the Rugby World Cup.”

All of the entries are now being displayed at Rugby Library until Tuesday, December 22.
