Police are warning shoppers to keep an eye on their belongings after a woman snatched a 92-year-old woman’s purse in a supermarket.

The incident happened on Friday July 10 at 11.15am in Aldi in Hillmorton Road, Rugby.

The victim, a 92-year-old woman, was shopping in the fruit and vegetable aisle when another woman reached into her bag and stole her purse, containing around £40.

Police are eager to speak to the woman in the CCTV image (right) in connection with the theft.

In light of this incident, police are urging shoppers to keep their purses and other valuable belongings on them at all times and to not leave them unattended on trolleys.

Officers hope the public appeal will encourage the woman in the image to come foward.

Anyone who recognises the woman is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 186 of Friday July 10.
