Your half-term guide to keeping the kids happy

WHETHER families wish to embrace the cold outdoors or find fun somewhere warm, there is plenty to do in south Warwickshire this half term.

Children can get into the holiday spirit by taking part in a ‘Record Breakers’-themed quiz and craft activities at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, starting tomorrow (Saturday) and taking place every day during the week from 11am to 3pm.

On Sunday, children’s writer Polly Ives will join musicians Ensemble 360 to present a family concert, where they will perform Paul Rissmann’s The Chimpanzees of Happytown at the Bridge House Theatre in Myton Road at 11.30am. For tickets, call 776438 or visit www.bridgehousetheatre.co.uk

Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre in Leamington and St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre in Warwick are running beginners’ crash swimming courses, ‘mini splosh’ sessions and youth gym slots, while the Warwick centre is also hosting sports play, astro turf football and badminton sessions. Craft days, toddlers’ play times, badminton and youth gym sessions are also taking place at Castle Farm Recreation Centre in Kenilworth (call 850550) and there will be a soccer camp and ‘American sports spectacular’ activities at the John Atkinson Sports Centre at Myton School (call 498363).

Children can create patterns inspired by the Turkish hammam at the Pump Room in Leamington at a free art club there on Thursday from 2pm. Call 742700.

And Brandon Marsh Nature Centre near Baginton is organising different themed activities for each day of the week, including building dens, making kites and preparing a home and mask for teddy bears as they head to a picnic. Call 024 7630 2912.
