Letter of the week: candidates kept quiet

I was one of many who had the right to vote in the council elections.

I had been waiting for the prospective councillors or their band of helpers to come to my door with pamphlets or requests to give them my vote so they can carry forward policies for the benefit of the town and the area of Rugby I live in.

As we hear so much in the press of the apathy of the British voter, I have been astounded by the fact that I had to go to vote not knowing any of the candidates or the policies or any other information.

The candidates see fit not to inform us the voters of any information to make a sound judgement, so they are the ones making voters disillusioned with the state of politics.

Martyn Colledge,
