Trying to find something different to bring you this week, I came across these two town centre pictures.

The first scene from the Clocktowers shopping centre isn’t dated, but I’m guessing late 1980s or early 1990s. Nearest the camera was Dixons, with Vickerstaffs cards next door. I can’t read any other signs, but I think in those days it would have been Mothercare facing the camera at the far end.

And who remembers the Gallery Restaurant above all those shops? Not sure what, if anything, is up there now.

While the shopping centre units have swapped traders a few times since and are all currently occupied, sadly it’s not the case for the three Church Street shops below.

This scene from July 1994 shows Sketchley dry cleaners, Co-op Travelcare and Radio Rentals. All three units are empty at the moment.
