Vale went six three-minute rounds with Gavin to help prepare him for his Commonweath title fight with Denton Vassell on June 28.

And, after taking on Sam Bowen tonight at the Leamington Real Tennis Club as an appetiser to the Royal Rumble heavyweight show, Vale will be heading back to Birmingham for two more days of sparring with the 2007 World Amateur champion.

“They were very complimentary about Myles,” said Edwin Cleary. “Frankie said that in 120 amateur fights and 15 professional bouts he’d never been put under that amount of pressure.”
