Champion O’Regan, who was recently selected for GB Podium squad, is free to fight the Cleary’s Gym boxer after challenger Jack Wood moved up in weights.

Quartermaine was due to headline a show at the Assembly on the same night, but with a coachload of supporters expected to follow him up to Birmingham, that has now been cancelled.

Coach Edwin Cleary said the chance to see the next stage of the 18-year-old’s career was just too good to miss.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Danny and the gym,” said Cleary.

“Danny’s march to the top is incredible considering he was a novice two years ago.

“But he’s worked hard and listened. He’s been matched the correct way over the last four years and is always looking to push on.

“He’s boxed everyone we’ve asked and believes in our system.”

Fellow Cleary’s fighter Jake Finch will also feature on the Irish Centre card as he returns to the ring after almost four months out with a broken thumb.
