Mixed fortunes so far this season...

After two rain-affected weekends of play, teams are taking stock of their league progress so far this season.

While it’s not been a great start for most of the 1st XIs, their supporting sides have been finding much more success.

Rugby Cricket Club’s title ambitions in the Warwickshire Cricket League Premier Division have had a stuttering start with just three wins for sixth place so far.

Rugby’s 2nd XI find themselves in the lower half of Division 4, but their 3rd XI are dominating Division 11 East, with a 44-point lead at the top of the table over nearest rivals Newbold.

It’s a similar situation at Longdown Lane, where Barby’s 1st XI are eighth in Division 1 after the nine games and the 2nd XI are fifth in Division 7. The 3rd XI though, in Northamptonshire Division 14, are enjoying a great season and are just six points behind leaders Grange Park.

Swinford-based Rowland United have been having a tough time in Warwickshire Division 3 so far, with just a couple of wins, which sees them second from bottom. But Rowlands’ 2nd XI have won four of their eight games and are fifth in Division 10 East.

In Division 4 Oakfield 1st XI have started very well with five wins for third place, just one point behind leaders Marston Green 2nds. Oakfield 2nds have also made a positive start to be fourth in Division 9 East.

The 3rd XI, however, are struggling in Division 12 East.

Over in the South Northants League while Willoughby 1sts are just below mid-table in Division 1, their ‘A’ team are four points clear in Division 4.

Dunchurch & Bilton are challenging for the title and promotion in South Northants Division2, currently in third spot, but just two points behind leaders Byfield A. At the other end of the table Braunston Paddox are just above the relegation spots.

Dunchurch & Bilton’s ‘A’ team, playing in Division 5, will also be keen to lift themselves out of the lower reaches over the next few weeks.
