Bethan in her fourth season with Warwickshire

Fifteen-year-old Princethorpe College Cricketer Bethan Ellis has been invited as part of the Warwickshire Women’s Development Squad to take part in a two-week tour heading out to South Africa in February 2016. The super-fast bowler, who is now playing her fourth season for the county, was delighted to hear of her cross continent invitation.

With her finest hour to date recorded at the 2014 English County Championships Bethan holds to her credit a five-wicket record which to those who aren’t in the cricket know equates to scoring a hundred runs.

Describing herself as a ‘fairly good seam bowler’ Bethan heads up the College 1st team as well as representing Berkswell and Standard Clubs. Her winter nets season has seen her training four times a week travelling as far as Edgbaston to refine her game.

In her view women’s cricket is definitely on the up: “England’s Women’s Ashes victory in 2014 has made its mark,” she said. “There are more women playing and younger girls getting involved.”

A Princethorpe College Sixth Form Sports Scholarship has been awarded to Bethan who also competes at 1st team hockey level as well as participating in a range of other sports.
