Clean sweep for Oakfield

The Warwickshire ladies 6-a-side tip and run tournament was held at Barby last weekend with the weather holding fine for most of the day. The eight teams were split into two groups with the winners and runners up of each progressing to the semi-finals.

Group A saw Wolston and Newbold progress at the expense of hosts Barby and Cemex, while in Group B Southam and Oakfield got the better of Willoughby and Long Buckby respectively.

Oakfield overcame Wolston in the first semi final while Southam proved too strong for the Newbold ladies.

The final saw a re-match of the group B clash earlier in the day between Oakfield and Southam in which Southam had triumphed, but the final was a different matter. Oakfield batting first posted 65 in their five overs and when Southam lost a couple of quick wickets this was always going to be too many.

The ladies were presented with their awards by Barby chairman Rob Field.

Oakfield ladies finished the season as winners of the League, Cup and 6-a-side a feat no team has achieved before.
