Century man Alex would not be beaten

Leamington skipper Alex Phillips’ brilliant unbeaten century took his team into pole position after the first two rounds of the Carrick Travel Floodlit T20 Cup and won him the Courier’s August ‘Man of the Month’ competition, sponsored by Leamington personal training studio Life Fitness Solutions.

His knock took Leamington to a comfortable 48-run win over hosts Kenilworth Wardens, leaving Spa as the only unbeaten club ahead of the final round robin games.

The tall right hander stroked nine boundaries and smashed five maximums in his unbeaten 55-ball 103.

The check assesses key health markers, such as cholesterol, glucose, body fat percentage and postural imbalances.

Throughout the season, Courier sports editor Paul Okey and a panel of judges have selected the monthly winner from match reports submitted by local clubs.

Personal trainer Rob Coster, joint owner of Life Fitness Solutions, said: “This was a magnificent batting performance – and unbeaten 103 – and the judges had no hesitation in making him their Man of the Month.”
