At Glasshouse Park, Kenilworth School’s Harry Johnson despatched Ambleside under-15s for a colossal unbeaten 164 in his club’s 89-run win.

He added 206 with opening partner Ben Rex (76) as Wardens amassed 257 for two in their 25 overs before the visitors responded with 168 for two.

Johnson struck 23 fours and three sixes in his 84-ball knock, which is thought to be the highest individual score made in the 40 years since Wardens launched youth cricket.

Meanwhile, under-13 Dan Mousley’s 63-ball unbeaten 102, which included 16 fours and a six, led Wardens to a nine-wicket triumph over their Olton counterpart, with the Bablake School pupil and opening partner Prab Sahota (30 not out) cruising past their 141-run target in 20.1 overs.

Wardens’ head of junior cricket Dave Phillips said: “Making a hundred in a 25-over match is a tremendous achievement in any level of cricket, but for it to happen twice on the same day in junior matches is nothing short of remarkable.

“Dan and Harry’s achievements are made even sweeter by both knocks being their maiden tons for the club. We are all very happy for them.”

Johnson, who keeps wicket for Wardens’ 2nd XI in the Birmingham League on a Saturday, has recently broken into the Warwickshire under-15 squad.

Off-spinning all-rounder Mousley, who captains Warwickshire under-13s, has already featured in Wardens’ 3rd and 4th XI Cotswold Hills League teams.
