Mick played for Warwick Ramblers throughout the 1960s before playing for WCC Staff from 1973 to 2003, then umpiring for both WCC Staff and Stratford Cricket Club where his son David still plays.

In his time he volunteered for many roles within the club including captain, secretary, fixture secretary and treasurer.

He regularly organised the annual dinner and the Christman dinner dance.

He was a vice president for 25 years and helped organise WCC’s ICC Trophy warm-up matches against Israel in 1981 and Argentina in 1985.

The latter was the first time an Argentinian National team had played in England since the Falklands War.

The day consisted of two games of current WCC players against former players and a few guests, and was attended by many former players along with Mick’s family and friends.

After the game a raffle and auction was held, which raised £2,198 for Myton Hospice.

The club also presented a memorial bench to Mick’s family, before Mick’s son Ian’s band performed into the evening.

The club has thanked everybody who contributed to such a memorable day.
